Sewingspiration

After receiving "Queen of Crafts" by Jazz Domino Holly for Christmas (seriously everyone, buy that book, it's wonderful), my inner crafter has been fighting to get out. For a while now I have been wanting to get into sewing and general crafting, and this book has finally given me a kick up the arse to do it.
So I had the book, but no sewing machine. Oh hey Grandad! My Mother knew that my Grandad had an old sewing machine so after a bit of hint dropping I was the proud owner of a 1970s electric sewing machine which I'm in love with. I've only had it for two days but I've already made this cushion...

It was so easy to make! Luckily my Mum, like me, is a bit of a hoarder, and so she just happened to have some cushion stuffing spare and I have lots of pink fabric! I popped into a haberdashery today and picked up some ribbon to create a more interesting (and pretty) fastener. It was so nice to spend time doing something different, and the feeling of accomplishment once you've finished your project is wonderful!

But my Grandad not only gave me one sewing machine, oh no, he also gave me the most beautiful of all sewing machines to ever exist. He also gave me a 1913 Singer sewing machine which belonged to my great great Grandmother, great Grandmother, Grandmother and now me. I love family heirlooms.
