There is an ELF on my face

Alas it is not a mythical elf. Although that would be friggin' awesome.
Instead I'm talking about ELF (eyes lips face) cosmetics, a brand I recently decided to have a try of. Now I've never really done a beauty review before, and I'm not particularly the type of girl who spends lots of money/time on make up. I don't particularly feel comfortable with lots of make up on and I'd heard that ELF was quite nice and light, so why not eh?

I bought a few different things. First up was the therapeutic conditioning lip balm in Vanilla, it's really smooth and silky and definitely moisturises better than my usual rosy lips vaseline! Also, at only £1.50 it wasn't exactly costly. However I will say that it does make your lips really really pale, so I think next time I'm going to try the strawberry one. I'm personally not a fan of the whole pale lip thing (foundation on lips is something I just do not like at all), so what I tend to do is put it on fairly thick at night then let it sink in over night. Perfecto! Plus the vanilla smells divine.

As a big nail paint lover, I couldn't resist the £1.50 nail polishes, however I did restrain myself and I only bought two, Mod Mauve and Teal. They're lovely to apply and dry pretty quickly, but the colours were a little disappointing. The mauve colour looks more brown than in the picture and the teal is more like a dark minty green. I went for alternating nail because I couldn't choose which to use first, my friend calls them "mint choc chip nails".

Along with the polish, I bought a nourishing cuticle pen which seems pretty lush! I've only used it once so far since it has to be used on naked nails which only happens for me when I re-paint.

Finally I bought the tinted moisturiser with SPF 15 in Rosy Beige. It matches my skin tone pretty well, and it's very moisturising as well as smelling rather yummy (no biscuit scent at all!). The SPF 15 is an obvious bonus, particularly for freckly pale things like me. But alas I do have a couple of faults with this product. 1) It makes my face so so shiny I have to use powder on top 2) The tube is teeny weeny (to be fair it was only £1.50 so I wasn't expecting loads). I do feel that the Topshop tinted moisturiser was better, even if it is £10.

So, Elf, yay or nay? If you're looking for cheap make up that is light and soft on skin then a big YAY. But if you're after high-quality products then it's a bit of a nay I'm afraid.
